What is this book about? Besides knights riding dinosaurs? 

Who cares? There are Knights and there are Dinosaurs! What else could make it better? 




Please tell me if you do know. This is book 2 in The Dinosaur Lords Series. I made a start on book 1 The Dinosaur Lords several months ago.  It was interesting but not compelling.  I soon put it down unread and haven't picked it up to finish.



It's billed as a cross between Game of Thrones and Jurassic Park however when I put it down they were in the middle of a march from point A to point B but the arrival at point B never seemed to come.  It reminded me of the middle part of The Two Towers were Frodo and Sam seemed to get stuck in a 'groundhog day' time loop were in they passed the same rock about 15 times...

Anyway don't let me dissuade you from reading it as I do intend to pick it up again.  The world building is good and so is the character development so give it a go.



The Dinosaur Knights

Paradise is a sprawling, diverse, often cruel world. There are humans on Paradise but dinosaurs predominate: wildlife, monsters, beasts of burden, and of war. Armored knights ride dinosaurs to battle legions of war-trained Triceratops and their upstart peasant crews.

Karyl Bogomirsky is one such knight who has chosen to rally those who seek a way from the path of war and madness. The fact that the Empire has announced a religious crusade against this peaceful kingdom, the people who just wish to live in peace anathema, and they all are to be converted or destroyed doesn’t help him one bit.

Things really turn to mud when the dreaded Grey Angels, fabled ancient weapons of the Gods who created Paradise in the first place come on the scene after almost a millennia. Everyone thought that they were fables used to scare children. They are very much real.

And they have come to rid the world of sin…including all the humans who manifest those vices.

Cycling In The Dark - A Technique For Writing Fiction.

I’ve been reading a lot of ‘ how-to ’ books on writing novels recently, the majority of them talk about creating an outline even before writing the first draft. For those of us who have attempted this sort of thing it does make sense. Step 1: Create and outline of your story, know where and when everything will happen. Step 2: Write your first draft, don’t worry about spelling mistakes or typo’s just let your creative voice have free reign so you can get the story out there. As Joanna Penn says ‘ splurge on words and ideas ’ in this first draft. Step 3: Spent time editing. That is using your critical voice, correcting the spelling mistakes and typo’s, rewriting and polishing the story. The problem is that we spend a lot of time on step 1 and never seem to be able to finish.
